For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Alex Gurevich, the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at HonTe Advisors. Alex's new book, "The Trades of March", which is currently on sale, focuses on how his decision making evolved throughout the on-set of the COVID-19 crisis and beyond. Crises are inevitable, unfortunately, we're in the middle of a horrible one right now with the humanitarian crisis and despicable invasion of Ukraine. Alex discusses managing the psychological turmoil of trading through crises, and doing one's best to overcome irrational thinking. I am certain you will find a strategy or two that can help your investing process.

My guest on the show today is Larry Heaton, CEO of Zomedica (NYSE American: ZOM), a veterinary health company creating therapeutic and diagnostic products for companion animals. The company engages in the development and commercialization of TRUFORMA platform, which offers point-of-care diagnostic products for disease states in dogs and cats; and PulseVet, provides for treatment of various musculoskeletal issues, such as broken bones, tendonitis, and torn ligaments in horses and small animals.

According to a 2018 research report by Grand View Research, "The global pet care market size was estimated at USD 131.7 billion in 2016 and is expected to grow with a CAGR of 4.9% from 2016 to 2025." Furthermore, a 2021 ASPCA report noted that "23 million American households acquired a pet during the COVID-19 crisis."
I've seen Zomedica at many financial conferences, however, this is my first conversation with newly appointed CEO, Larry Heaton, who started this position in the company in October 2021 and I wanted to hear his thoughts since joining the company, how the company is addressing the pet care market, as well as:
- Full slate of Diagnostic and Therapeutic products
- How to evaluate which assays to bring on board
- Regulatory differences between human and animal health markets
- Capital allocation strategy
With that, please enjoy my conversation with Larry Heaton, CEO of Zomedica. For more information about Zomedica, please visit: https://zomedica.com/

- Why the company chose to build all their solutions on the Microsoft platform

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Edwin Dorsey, Author of The Bear Cave Newsletter. As long as it's not illegal, if you're making money in the stock market either trading, shorting, long-term investor, whatever it is, that's awesome and I hope you continue to do so. One strategy that I think gets unfairly thought of is Short Selling; the idea of making a bet that a company will fail or overtime decrease in value. I think this is unfair because some of the best investors in the world are short sellers, and provide insightful, valuable research to help us avoid serious mistakes. Now, some of you may be under the impression that Edwin's newsletter is all about short reports and exposing frauds, but what I learned the most from Edwin, who I think is a superstar and the sky's the limit for him, is that he's exposing companies, that may in time be frauds and/or good shorts, but more importantly, are providing bad customer experiences. No matter the strategy, if it involves some qualitative due diligence, customer experience can be everything to the success or failure of a business. It's this point we talk about at length - Edwin's research process that locks in on uncovering this differential insight.

My guest on the Due Diligence Podcast today is Brad O’Connor, CEO of Cogstate Ltd. (ASX: CGS) (OTCQX: COGZF). The company is an industry leader in digital cognition tests that are used primarily in drug trials to see if the drug is impacting cognition. The company operates through two segments, Healthcare and Direct to Consumer, as a provider of digital cognition tests for Alzheimer's disease clinical trials, and direct to consumer via its global commercial partner Eisai Co., Ltd with the recently announced Digital Tool “CogMate™" in Taiwan And Hong Kong.
With the recent FDA approval of Aduhelm to address the underlying biology of the disease, the first of its kind, Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders had a major breakthrough. Cogstate seeks to capitalize on this secular bull market in Alzheimer's R&D and commercialization without being a drug development company themselves.
Brad O'Connor has a background you wouldn't expect, as he does not come from the Healthcare industry, and he has a very unique perspective on growing the business. Brad and I discuss the following topics:
- Alzheimer's R&D and Commercialization - how the clinical trials are set up?
- Creating digital cognition tests for the consumer
- Barrier to entries for digital cognition testing market
- Data and analytics opportunities
With that, please enjoy my conversation with Brad O'Connor, CEO of Cogstate. For more information about Cogstate Ltd., please visit: https://www.cogstate.com/

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Jean Philippe Tissot. He is the Founder of Aurauca Capital. We were introduced by a recent guest on the show, Ian Hunter - thank you, Ian! To get prepared for our conversation, Jean Philippe sent over recent fund letters and in his 2018 annual letter, he describes quite thoroughly his "Three Pillars of Investing." I found this quite interesting and nuanced, so we dive a bit deeper to fully understand his approach.

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Joe Koster. He is the Founder of Sorfis Investments LLC. We had met at one of the MicroCap virtual networking events, I believe it was the MicroCap Leadership Summit - thank you, Ian - then re-introduced by Mike Pruitt, thank you Mike, who Joe worked with for a number of years. Joe is also Editor of the finance newsletter, Value Investing World, and with the recent flock to value, I wanted to get his perspective on why, as well as other trends and observations he's been noticing within value investing circles. We also attempt to convey these current events using a golf metaphor. Emphasis on the word "Attempt".

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Louis Camhi. He is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at RLH Capital. We were introduced by Gary Ribe - he knew I've been wanting to do a SPAC episode for a while, and he delivered the perfect guest. Louis runs a SPAC-focused hedge fund, and has been investing in SPACs well before the SPAC craze we've been experiencing today. According to the article, "A Record Pace for SPACs in 2021" on NASDAQ, the total number of SPAC IPOs reached record highs in 2021, increasing to 613 from 248 in 2020 - compare that to just 59 in 2019! I know, everyone financial content creator has done something on SPACs - I'm no different here, but I think Louis provides really interesting insights into the evolution of SPACs, as well as his thoughts on what the future holds.

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Emily Paxhia, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Poseidon Investment Management. I've been doing interviews with Cannabis investors and companies since 2014. To say the industry has been volatile would be an understatement. There's been a lot of excitement about potential legalization, anxiety it's not done yet; it's felt like we've been in this purgatory forever. Once and for all, I wanted to understand why the Cannabis industry has made me feel that way, where we are currently at from an investor perspective and what the future holds. There is no better person to help me answer these questions than Emily Paxhia. I've known Emily since 2015 when she spoke at one of our investor events, and her fund, Poseidon, is one of the longest running dedicated cannabis investment funds. She's the perfect guest to gain some clarity about why Cannabis may still be a generational investing opportunity.
