For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Frank Holmes. He is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer at U.S. Global Investors, GROW on NASDAQ, and Chairman of the Board of HIVE Blockchain Technologies, HIVE on TSX Venture and HVBTF on the OTCQX. I've known and interviewed Frank for a long time now, so featuring him on the pod is long overdue. But the timing couldn't be better as Frank has been on the front lines of crypto and he needs to be fully up to date on all the macro events that could affect digital assets. We chat at length on all the biggest headlines in crypto, what they mean, as well as how the crypto volatility compares to his experience investing primarily in natural resources. We recorded this episode in two parts, the first ~50 minutes on May 12 and the rest on May 27 because there was so much that happened in crypto world in between.

We were introduced by Matthew Peterson, Managing Partner at Peterson Capital Management, a great friend and joined me on the pod for Episode 133 - definitely check that out. I've known about Guy for a long time, and couldn't believe that this would be possible, so I'm incredibly humbled that he joined me for our conversation.
For those who don't know Guy, nor read his book, Guy got his start in MicroCap land, and not only did we chat about those experiences, but discuss his journey of self-discovery, discipline, understanding oneself and how that can help you as an investor. For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I’m sharing with you the MicroCap Graduation Series: Kurt Sorschak, Chairman and CEO of Xebec Adsorption (TSX: XBC). In 2019, I started a series on the podcast called the "MicroCap Graduation Series", the goal is to portray a full picture of the Micro-, Nano-cap space – from learning strategies to help you become a successful investor and to show that there are actual real, live public companies that have found success as a public Micro- or Nano-cap company. I first met Kurt at our 2019 Planet MicroCap Showcase, where he was featured on Paul Andreola's panel, "Canadian MicroCap Stocks: Best of the Really Undiscovered."
Since that panel was conducted, Xebec, at its peak on January 18, 2021 has gone up 712%, and as of April 26, 2021, up 226%. As Kurt will discuss, it's all about timing, and it took a long time for the company to finally hit the inflection points to recognize value for shareholders. Kurt is very open and honest about the ups and downs of running a public company, and is especially candid about the company's recent dip following updating their 2020 guidance. We actually chat at length about guidance and why Kurt will continue to provide guidance for shareholders. I loved our conversation and learned a great deal from him. Please enjoy!

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I’m sharing with you the MicroCap Graduation Series: Hamed Shahbazi, Chairman and CEO of WELL Health Technologies (TSX: WELL). In 2019, I started a series on the podcast called the "MicroCap Graduation Series", the goal is to portray a full picture of the Micro-, Nano-cap space – from learning strategies to help you become a successful investor and to show that there are actual real, live public companies that have found success as a public Micro- or Nano-cap company. My guest today has not one, but two, MicroCap graduates in a relatively short time frame, 4 years, with TIO Networks and WELL Health Technologies. Actually, one of the first investor presentations I saw was your presentation on TIO Networks at LD Micro I think back in 2011.
On February 14, 2017 (great V-Day gift), PayPal announced that it will acquire TIO Networks for approximately $302 million CDN ($238 million USD), and since taking the job as CEO on May 23, 2018, where the stock closed at $0.58, and as of yesterday (Day of recording - April 13, 2021) traded at $7.60, ~1,210% increase in share price. I really enjoyed learning from Hamed what it takes to have success in building businesses from scratch.
