For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I’m sharing with you the Planet MicroCap Podcast: CANADA VIRTUAL EDITION panel from this week’s SNN Network Canada Virtual Event. I'm beyond stoked that Meredith Brill, Jason Hirschman, Mathieu Martin and Dean Trottier were panelists with me. For this episode, we discuss everyone's investing strategy, conviction to hold, what great management looks like and much more, all through the lens of looking at the Canadian MicroCap market. However, these are things that can be applied across all asset classes. Especially, when you get to the part where my guests humble brag on a successful Canadian microcap investment they made and how that changed their lives. For all you $XPEL-ers out there, Meredith and Jason break down their whole process. Please enjoy!

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Elliot Turner. He is the Managing Partner and CIO of RGA Investment Advisors. I'd been following Elliot on Twitter for a long time, and finally worked up the courage to ask him on. Elliot is currently a co-host on MOI Global's, "This Week in Intelligent Investing" podcast, a great show that I highly recommend, where he shares his insights and investing thesis on a pretty regular basis. So, for today's episode, we chatted about things we find interesting: streaming wars, sports betting, and most importantly, New York sports. We happen to represent opposite sides of the New York sports fan spectrum, and support each other through this difficult time as a NY sports fan. I had a great time, and you will enjoy Elliot's in-depth look at Roku and Kambi.

The Investors Roundtable #20: Streaming Services and the Future of Media
Saturday Dec 26, 2020
Saturday Dec 26, 2020
For this episode of the The Investors Roundtable, our topic is "Streaming Services and the Future of Media." This roundtable was inspired by Activist Investor Dan Loeb's letter on Why Disney Needs to Double Its Streaming Spending, and Chris Bloomstran's letter offering a counterpoint. We're still in the very early innings of the streaming era, and new technological advancements opens the doors to discussions like this about where current firms are positioned, how streaming/technology has changed the media landscape, as well as where could we be headed. A lot of familiar names are chatted about on here, and stay tuned until the very end to hear everyone's first snail-mail Netflix rental, Red Box and Blockbuster rental. Please enjoy!

The Investors Roundtable #19: What Are Compounders and How Do We Find Them?
Friday Dec 25, 2020
Friday Dec 25, 2020
For this episode of the The Investors Roundtable, our topic is trying to define “What are Compounders and How Do We Find them?” There’s been a thread on Twitter going around on a firm claiming to have created the term - I figured we should do an episode to demonstrate that a definition of “Compounder” may not be as straightforward as you might think. Please enjoy!

In Episode 17 of The Investors Roundtable, we take a topic that's been discussed on here a bit further: Moats. For this conversation, we try to make sense of: 1. Do cultural moats exist (first off), 2. Do cultural moats result in greater value accretion for shareholders, 3. What does corporate culture in the age of physical separation look like, and lastly, 4. Can companies create a cultural moat as the world is going more and more digital/globalized/work from home. Please enjoy!

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Andrew Walker. He is the Founder/Editor of Yet Another Value Blog, Host of the Yet Another Value Podcast, Portfolio Manager at Rangeley Capital and co-host of the Rangeley Capital Podcast. I’ve been a fan and admirer of Andrew and all the work he’s done on his blog and podcasts, and this conversation was LONG overdue. In the similar vein of my chat with Bill Brewster, Andrew’s investing philosophy and strategy is well-covered on his platforms, so we have a fun time chatting about what he’s obsessed with currently, and geek out on our mutual love of Marvel, Game of Thrones, and more.
