In Episode 17 of The Investors Roundtable, we take a topic that's been discussed on here a bit further: Moats. For this conversation, we try to make sense of: 1. Do cultural moats exist (first off), 2. Do cultural moats result in greater value accretion for shareholders, 3. What does corporate culture in the age of physical separation look like, and lastly, 4. Can companies create a cultural moat as the world is going more and more digital/globalized/work from home. For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Andrew Walker. He is the Founder/Editor of Yet Another Value Blog, Host of the Yet Another Value Podcast, Portfolio Manager at Rangeley Capital and co-host of the Rangeley Capital Podcast. I’ve been a fan and admirer of Andrew and all the work he’s done on his blog and podcasts, and this conversation was LONG overdue. In the similar vein of my chat with Bill Brewster, Andrew’s investing philosophy and strategy is well-covered on his platforms, so we have a fun time chatting about what he’s obsessed with currently, and geek out on our mutual love of Marvel, Game of Thrones, and more.

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Liz Simmie. Liz is the Co-Founder and CIO of Honeytree Investment Management. Her firm, Honeytree Investment Management, builds quantamental public market portfolios for institutional and select private investors looking for concentrated, high-conviction strategies with full ESG integration. As the title states and in this interview, Liz discusses why the current ESG definition may need a bit of re-defining, and she makes the argument for why ESFG formula works for them. Liz is brilliant and I think you’ll really enjoy her perspective.
